Spanish Walkers offered hospitality at St James’s

Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP 26)

Alnwick Area Friends of the Earth were asked to support a group of 15-20 Spaniards who were walking in relays from Portsmouth to Glasgow in October to help draw attention to the importance of the November COP26 meeting, and the pressing need for major action across the nations to combat excessive global warming.
They stayed in Alnwick on the night of Friday 22 October. Through Christians Together in Alnwick, St James’s offered hospitality to them on the morning of Saturday 23rd October…An early, hearty breakfast was provided in our church hall to see them on their way. Folks from the Methodist church in Alnwick organised fabulous packed lunches for them to take away.

The event was well appreciated by all concerned and it was good to be involved at a local level.

Many thanks to the kitchen cooks who served a the breakfast. It was a very early start!
