A Magnificent March Morning Meet-up

Nine of us met up for our March walk on a beautiful, although blowy morning at Dunstanburgh Golf club
and made our way to the beach heading north to Newton by the sea. A strong wind prevailed but the bright blue sky and sun peeping through the clouds kept our spirits high. The virtually deserted beach was noted and appreciated.
Above the sound of the gentle waves, our chatter resounded as we made our way along this beautiful
stretch of our Northumberland coastline. The short stop at Newton allowed a moment for us to
re-group and for the usual photograph to be taken. Then we made our way onto the sign-posted coastal
path route following the edge of the golf course. A good path, apart from one section, where, after stopping at the bird hide to look out for rare sightings, we made a slight detour to avoid the deep muddy
section. Julie and Charles did a recce of a temporary well-trodden patch between the undergrowth and we quickly found our way to the main path. Tom had us keeping a beady eye out for lost golf balls, maybe his? But to no avail. The wooden cottages scattered amongst the dunes were mostly looking in good order, some with such magnificent views.
The path soon led us back to the golf club for a well-earned rest, a bite of lunch and to continue our conversations. A thoroughly enjoyable few hours on such a super day. We are so blessed
to live in this beautiful part of the country.
